DG-Miliano Emerald
DG-Miliano was drawn for moissanite: eight stars, eight crown mains and sixteen upper girdle facets over a girdle of ninety-six, with the pavilion in three tiers of sixteen. Counting every tier and the girdle, the measured model comes to 177 facets, 60.3% deep.
Its pavilion figure is 38.3°, the only round on our emerald pages to sit under the 39.4° guide minimum. In our census it trails the T73 on light, 67 against 78, and leaks a third of the light; the diamond version, by contrast, returns 95.
Compared with the T73 Round Brilliant in emerald and with the DG-Miliano in diamond.
A difference counts from 3 points (Brilliance, Fire, Tilt, Leakage), 5 (Scintillation,
Symmetry), 2 (Spread) or 5% (weight); Tilt counts as a pro only for a stone within
5 points of the brilliance it is compared with. How we measure.
All eight scores against the T73
At a glance: the DG-Miliano in emerald (white) against the T73 Round Brilliant in emerald (dashed): solid white where
it reaches further, hatched where it falls short. Each pro and con is explained, with pictures, below.
Against the T73 Round Brilliant in emerald: ahead on 3, level on 1, behind on 4.

Scintillation 98 against 80 for the T73 Round Brilliant in emerald: 18 points higher
Sixteen-facet tiers and the ninety-six-facet girdle break the face into many small facets, and our scintillation score, which follows the facet plan, reads 98. That holds in every stone, so the gain is over the T73 in emerald.
Scintillation follows the number of facets: more facets, more and smaller flashes as the stone moves. Count the facets in each crown. Drawn from each cut's own model.
Fire 34 against 82 for the DG-Miliano in diamond: 48 points lower
Emerald's dispersion is 0.014; diamond's is 0.044. DG-Miliano scores 82 for fire in diamond, among the highest of the rounds, and 34 in emerald, below the T73's 39.

Look at the coloured flashes: those are fire. Same light, same size, same face-up angle; rendered by our 3D Gemstone Simulator from each cut's own model.
Leakage 33 against 3 for the DG-Miliano in diamond: 30 points higher
In our census 33% escapes through the pavilion, against 22% for the T73 in emerald and 3% for the same cut in diamond. The shallowest tier, near the point, is the likeliest place for light to slip past emerald's 39.4° critical angle.

Each frame is the Light Return map with the stone tilted away from you by the angle shown; grey is light leaving through the pavilion. The share under each frame is that picture's own.
What helps: The pavilion figure, 38.3°, is under emerald's 39.4° guide minimum, but we have not measured a steeper DG-Miliano, so we cannot promise what it would do. A measured alternative: DG-Vitruvio Emerald leaks 22% with the same scintillation.
Brilliance 67 against 95 for the DG-Miliano in diamond: 28 points lower
The three-tier pavilion works in diamond, where it returns 95. In emerald it returns 67, under the T73's 78 as well.

Red, green and blue = light returning to the eye; grey = light leaving through the pavilion. This is the head-on view; the Brilliance score averages a wider cone of light, so the score can differ from what one picture shows.
What helps: For the most light in a round emerald, DG-M5 Emerald at 90; for the same fine sparkle with the T73's light, DG-Vitruvio Emerald (78).
DG-Miliano in emerald is for someone who values a fine, busy sparkle over light. Its scintillation is the top of the scale; its light ranks seventh of the ten rounds on our emerald pages.
