DG-Miliano Diamond
Around the table of DG-Miliano, one of our house rounds, sit eight stars, eight crown mains and sixteen upper girdle facets. Under a thin girdle of 96 facets, three tiers of sixteen pavilion facets run from steep at the girdle to shallow at the point. The model totals 177 facets and is 60.3% deep.
We set it against the T73 Round Brilliant, our benchmark round in diamond. It wins on two scores, scintillation and fire, and stays level on the rest: Brilliance 95 against 93, leakage 3% against 2%.
One figure looks odd at first. The model's pavilion reads 38.3°, just under the 38.9° guide minimum we use for round designs in diamond, yet the census loses very little light through the back. One angle cannot describe three tiers, and the steeper tier at the girdle is the likely reason.
Is DG-Miliano a good cut for diamond? Pros and cons
None by our margins: every other score is level with the T73.
Compared with the T73 Round Brilliant in diamond.
A difference counts from 3 points (Brilliance, Fire, Tilt, Leakage), 5 (Scintillation,
Symmetry), 2 (Spread) or 5% (weight); Tilt counts as a pro only for a stone within
5 points of the brilliance it is compared with. How we measure.

Scintillation 98 against 80 for the T73 Round Brilliant in diamond: 18 points higher
Our scintillation score follows how many facets can flash as the stone moves, and 177 is well over twice the T73's 73. Only two other cuts we measure in diamond reach the same score, and none passes it. Expect a dense, fine-grained sparkle rather than a few broad flashes.
Scintillation follows the number of facets: more facets, more and smaller flashes as the stone moves. Count the facets in each crown. Drawn from each cut's own model.
Fire 82 against 78 for the T73 Round Brilliant in diamond: 4 points higher
The margin is small, but it clears our threshold. What makes it worth noting is the company it keeps: of the cuts that beat the T73 on fire in diamond, DG-Miliano is the only one that also stays level with it on brilliance. Most fiery cuts pay for their colour in light; this one does not.

T73 Round Brilliant in diamond · Fire 78
Look at the coloured flashes: those are fire. Same light, same size, same face-up angle; rendered by our 3D Gemstone Simulator from each cut's own model.
We found no score where DG-Miliano falls behind the T73 in diamond by our thresholds. Tilt reads 90 against 92, leakage 3% against 2% and spread 101 against 100: each gap is smaller than the margin we count. In plain words, the extra facets cost it no light that our census can find.
Who a DG-Miliano diamond suits
Choose DG-Miliano for a round diamond that should sparkle as finely as anything we measure without losing light: top-of-scale scintillation, a little extra fire, and brilliance, leakage and tilt all level with the benchmark. Because it was drawn for moissanite and still holds up in diamond, it also suits a cutter who wants one round for both stones.
If the single highest brilliance figure matters more than sparkle, DG-M5 Diamond reaches 97, though it gives up fire. For the same 96-facet girdle on the classic 1919 plan, see DG-Vitruvio Diamond; for the standard modern round, the T73 Round Brilliant Diamond.
DG-Miliano Diamond: questions
Is DG-Miliano a good cut for a diamond?
Yes, by our census: Scintillation 98 against 80 for the T73 and Fire 82 against 78, with no score behind it by our margins.
DG-Miliano or T73 for a round diamond?
DG-Miliano for finer sparkle and a little more colour. On light the two are level: 95 against 93, with 3% and 2% leaking.
How many facets does DG-Miliano have?
177: a 96-facet girdle, a pavilion of three tiers of sixteen, and eight stars, eight mains and sixteen upper girdle facets around the table.
What does a 6.5 mm DG-Miliano diamond weigh?
About 1.03 ct, worked out from the measured volume of our model.
