DG-Vitruvio Diamond
DG-Vitruvio is our own development of the T-series round brilliants. It leaves the classic crown and pavilion alone, down to the T73's 40.75° pavilion angle, and spends all its extra facets on the girdle, resolved into a band of 96. The model is 61.9% deep against the T73's 61.7%.
Because only the girdle changes, the comparison with the T73 Round Brilliant is close to a controlled test. Brilliance, fire, tilt and leakage come out within a point of the benchmark. Scintillation is the one score that moves, and it moves a long way.
None by our margins: every other score is within a point of the T73.
Compared with the T73 Round Brilliant in diamond.
A difference counts from 3 points (Brilliance, Fire, Tilt, Leakage), 5 (Scintillation,
Symmetry), 2 (Spread) or 5% (weight); Tilt counts as a pro only for a stone within
5 points of the brilliance it is compared with. How we measure.
All eight scores against the T73

it reaches further, hatched where it falls short. Each pro and con is explained, with pictures, below.

Scintillation 98 against 80 for the T73 Round Brilliant in diamond: 18 points higher
Our scintillation score counts the facets that can flash, and a 96-facet girdle adds a great many. It lands at the top of our scale, level with DG-Miliano. How much of that sparkle a viewer sees face-up, where the girdle sits nearly edge-on, is something our census does not measure.
Scintillation follows the number of facets: more facets, more and smaller flashes as the stone moves. Count the facets in each crown. Drawn from each cut's own model.
Nothing trails the T73 here. Brilliance is 93 against 93, Fire 79 against 78, Tilt 93 against 92, and the two leak the same 2%. With the same crown and pavilion that is what we would expect, and the census confirms it: a girdle band of 96 facets costs no light we can measure.
Who a DG-Vitruvio diamond suits
Choose DG-Vitruvio when you want the T73's light exactly and an outline that reads as smooth and finely divided as the stone allows: for renders and settings where the girdle is on show, and for anyone who wants the classic proportions with the most sparkle our score allows.
If you need a girdle a setter will treat as standard, the T73 Round Brilliant Diamond gives the same light with sixteen girdle facets. For a round with more fire and the same top scintillation, DG-Miliano Diamond scores 82 for fire.
For cutters, weigh the time: every girdle facet is cut and polished, and a band of 96 asks far more of the machine than the T73's sixteen.
DG-Vitruvio Diamond: questions
Does DG-Vitruvio return as much light as a T73?
Yes: Brilliance 93 against 93, and both leak 2% in our census.
What is the difference between DG-Vitruvio and the T73?
The girdle. The T73 has sixteen girdle facets; DG-Vitruvio has a band of 96, over the same crown and pavilion. That lifts scintillation from 80 to 98 and leaves the other scores level.
Does DG-Vitruvio have more fire than a round brilliant?
Not by our margins: Fire 79 against 78 for the T73. It is level, not ahead.
What does a 6.5 mm DG-Vitruvio diamond weigh?
Our model gives 1.02 ct, almost exactly a T73 of the same width.
