DG-Vitruvio Amethyst
DG-Vitruvio keeps the classic crown and pavilion and puts all of its extra work at the girdle: 153 facets in all, on a 40.75° pavilion, 61.9% deep. In amethyst its light figures sit within a point of the T73's: Brilliance 71 against 72, leakage 29% against 28%, Tilt 81 against 80.
What changes is sparkle. Our scintillation score is worked out from the facet plan, and the girdle band lifts it to the top of the scale. The cons are those every round shares in quartz, set against the same cut in diamond, where they are large.
Compared with the T73 Round Brilliant in amethyst and with the DG-Vitruvio in diamond.
A difference counts from 3 points (Brilliance, Fire, Tilt, Leakage), 5 (Scintillation,
Symmetry), 2 (Spread) or 5% (weight); Tilt counts as a pro only for a stone within
5 points of the brilliance it is compared with. How we measure.
All eight scores against the T73
At a glance: the DG-Vitruvio in amethyst (white) against the T73 Round Brilliant in amethyst (dashed): solid white where
it reaches further, hatched where it falls short. Each pro and con is explained, with pictures, below.

Scintillation 98 against 80 for the T73 Round Brilliant in amethyst: 18 points higher
The 96-facet girdle breaks the rim into many small faces, and a score that follows the facet plan rises with them. Expect a finer glitter round the edge than a T73 shows.
Scintillation follows the number of facets: more facets, more and smaller flashes as the stone moves. Count the facets in each crown. Drawn from each cut's own model.
Fire 36 against 79 for the DG-Vitruvio in diamond: 43 points lower
With quartz's dispersion at 0.013, the colour split is weak before a single facet is cut. In diamond the same crown and girdle score 79.

Look at the coloured flashes: those are fire. Same light, same size, same face-up angle; rendered by our 3D Gemstone Simulator from each cut's own model.
Leakage 29 against 2 for the DG-Vitruvio in diamond: 27 points higher
Quartz holds light by total internal reflection only beyond 40.4°, against 24.4° in diamond, so more of what reaches the pavilion passes through it. The diamond version lets almost nothing out.

Each frame is the Light Return map with the stone tilted away from you by the angle shown; grey is light leaving through the pavilion. The share under each frame is that picture's own.
What helps: Steepening is not the fix our data supports: the pavilion is already at 40.75°, above amethyst's 40.4° guide minimum. DG-M5 Amethyst leaks 15%.
Brilliance 71 against 93 for the DG-Vitruvio in diamond: 22 points lower
Girdle facets add sparkle, not light: in amethyst DG-Vitruvio returns what the T73 returns, and both sit well under the diamond figure.
DG-Vitruvio in amethyst · Brilliance 71
DG-Vitruvio in diamond · Brilliance 93
Red, green and blue = light returning to the eye; grey = light leaving through the pavilion. This is the head-on view; the Brilliance score averages a wider cone of light, so the score can differ from what one picture shows.
Tilt 81 against 93 for the DG-Vitruvio in diamond: 12 points lower
At a 20° tip the amethyst DG-Vitruvio holds on to 81 of its face-up light, the diamond one to 93. In quartz it matches the T73 here too.

Tilt is how much of its own face-up light a stone keeps when tilted. Each frame is the Light Return map with the stone tilted away from you by the angle shown; grey is light leaving through the pavilion. The share under each frame is that picture's own.
Choose DG-Vitruvio for a round amethyst where a smooth, glittering outline matters, in renders or in a setting that shows the girdle. It gives everything the T73 gives in this stone, plus sparkle.
Ninety-six girdle facets are a lot of extra work at the machine. For a hobby cutter's first amethyst, the T73 Round Brilliant Amethyst gives the same light in far fewer steps.
