Peruzzi Cut Moissanite
The Peruzzi already sparkles like a modern round in diamond; what it lacks there is fire and light. Moissanite supplies the fire: Fire 94, against 68 in diamond.
It keeps hold of its light when tilted, too, better than the same cut in diamond, and its brilliance is close enough for that to count. The cost is light lost through the back, and a little size.
Is moissanite good in a Peruzzi cut? Pros and cons
Compared with the T73 Round Brilliant in moissanite and with the Peruzzi Cut in diamond.
A difference counts from 3 points (Brilliance, Fire, Tilt, Leakage), 5 (Scintillation,
Symmetry), 2 (Spread) or 5% (weight); Tilt counts as a pro only for a stone within
5 points of the brilliance it is compared with. How we measure.
All eight scores against the T73
At a glance: the Peruzzi Cut in moissanite (white) against the T73 Round Brilliant in moissanite (dashed): solid white where
it reaches further, hatched where it falls short. Each pro and con is explained, with pictures, below.

Fire 94 against 68 for the Peruzzi Cut in diamond: 26 points higher
Moissanite's dispersion is more than twice diamond's, and the Peruzzi's many crown facets show it in small, bright flashes of colour.
Peruzzi Cut in moissanite · Fire 94
Peruzzi Cut in diamond · Fire 68
Look at the coloured flashes: those are fire. Same light, same size, same face-up angle; rendered by our 3D Gemstone Simulator from each cut's own model.
Tilt 96 against 92 for the Peruzzi Cut in diamond: 4 points higher
Tipped by 20°, it keeps 96 of its face-up light against 92 for the same cut in diamond. Its brilliance is within a few points of the diamond's, so this is a real gain.

Tilt is how much of its own face-up light a stone keeps when tilted. Each frame is the Light Return map with the stone tilted away from you by the angle shown; grey is light leaving through the pavilion. The share under each frame is that picture's own.
Brilliance 71 against 86 for the T73 Round Brilliant in moissanite: 15 points lower
In the face-up maps the T73 is nearly all colour; the Peruzzi has grey in its corners.
Peruzzi Cut in moissanite · Brilliance 71
T73 Round Brilliant in moissanite · Brilliance 86
Red, green and blue = light returning to the eye; grey = light leaving through the pavilion. This is the head-on view; the Brilliance score averages a wider cone of light, so the score can differ from what one picture shows.
What helps: For a brighter stone in moissanite, DG-Anteros (92); for a brighter cushion, our modern Cushion Cut (74).
Symmetry 85 against 100 for the T73 Round Brilliant in moissanite: 15 points lower
The pavilion mixes facets of different sizes, so our symmetry score is 85.
Peruzzi Cut · 74 facets · Symmetry 85
T73 Round Brilliant · 73 facets · Symmetry 100
Symmetry scores how regular the pavilion facets are within the design. Compare how evenly the facets repeat around each pavilion. Drawn from each cut's own model.
What helps: It is the design, not poor cutting. The Old European Cut Moissanite keeps a regular pavilion (100).
Leakage 15 against 7 for the T73 Round Brilliant in moissanite: 8 points higher
The census loses 15% of the light through the pavilion; the T73 loses 7% in moissanite.

What helps: The angles set the share at any size. DG-Anteros leaks 3%.
Spread 96 against 100 for the T73 Round Brilliant in moissanite: 4 points lower
At 69.1% deep it is narrower for its weight than the T73.
Peruzzi Cut · 6.11 mm at 1.00 ct · Spread 96
T73 Round Brilliant · 6.68 mm at 1.00 ct · Spread 100
Both stones weigh 1.00 ct in moissanite and are drawn to the same scale, from each cut's own model. Spread is face-up size per carat: a deeper stone carries more weight below the girdle and looks smaller for its weight.
What helps: Pick the stone by its width; at 6.5 mm a Peruzzi is 1.21 ct.
Of the antique cushions in moissanite this is the one we would pick: the most light and fire of the three we measure, and sparkle level with the Old Mine. It suits a vintage-style ring where colour is welcome.
