# Read a whole report

Lesson quiz · five questions, in a new order every time

Five questions on lesson 9 of Reading a grading report. The questions and the answers to pick from come in a new order every time you start.

Pick an answer, and the question marks itself. For a question that you answer in your own words, think of your answer first. Then show our answer and say whether you had it. Nothing is saved or sent.

1. Question 1: A report shows 6.41 – 6.45 × 3.98 mm and a 62.0% total depth. Are they consistent?
  ### Show our answer
Yes: the average diameter is 6.43 mm, and 3.98 ÷ 6.43 = 61.9%, which rounds to about 62%.
2. Question 2: A GIA report gives a round "Cut: Excellent" and "Symmetry: Fair". What's wrong?
  ### Show our answer
Fair symmetry caps a GIA cut grade at Good.
3. Question 3: On which report would you expect a written list of up to four clarity characteristics instead of a plot?
  ### Show the answer
**b**: The Dossier lists them in words.
4. Question 4: An IGI report for a ring's center stone gives "Color: F–G". Is that an error?
  ### Show our answer
No: IGI grades mounted stones "as mounting permits", with color and clarity as a range.
5. Question 5: Put the checklist's six steps in order.
  ### Show our answer
Type, identity, grades, finish, diagrams, fine print.
