# Comments, treatments and origin

Lesson quiz · five questions, in a new order every time

Five questions on lesson 8 of Reading a grading report. The questions and the answers to pick from come in a new order every time you start.

Pick an answer, and the question marks itself. For a question that you answer in your own words, think of your answer first. Then show our answer and say whether you had it. Nothing is saved or sent.

1. Question 1: A color grade reads "E\*". Where do you look next?
  ### Show the answer
**b**: The asterisk flags a color treatment, and Comments explains it.
2. Question 2: Which of these treated diamonds can get a GIA grading report?
  ### Show the answer
**c**: Laser drilling is permanent and disclosed; coating and fracture filling are unstable.
3. Question 3: What does "LG" before an IGI report number on the girdle mean?
  ### Show our answer
The stone is laboratory-grown; IGI inscribes every lab-grown stone it reports that way.
4. Question 4: Why can't you tell a lab-grown diamond from a natural one by eye?
  ### Show our answer
It's diamond in every way that shows: same carbon, same crystal, same optics. The differences need a lab's instruments.
5. Question 5: A stone turns out to be cubic zirconia. What kind of GIA report can it get?
  ### Show our answer
An Identification Report: GIA doesn't grade simulants.
