# Report Check

Also called GIA Report Check, Verify Your Report, QR code, report verification

Report Check is GIA's online database. Enter a report number to see what GIA itself recorded; IGI's equivalent is Verify Your Report.

## In more detail

Scan the QR code on the report or type the number. For digital reports, the online version is the definitive one. Then check the stone against the record: weight, measurements and inscription.

## On a grading report

GIA reports carry a QR code that leads to the online record. IGI reports carry one too.

- [Report number](https://digitalgemology.com/learn/glossary/report-number): The report number is the unique number a lab gives a report. GIA registers it in its database, so anyone can look it up.
- [Inscription](https://digitalgemology.com/learn/glossary/inscription): An inscription is text that a laser writes on the girdle of a stone, too small to see without magnification. Most often it is the report number.
- [Security features](https://digitalgemology.com/learn/glossary/security-features): Security features are the marks on a printed report that make it hard to copy. On a GIA report they are microprinting, security screens, watermarks, a two-dimensional barcode, a hologram and sheet numbering.
- [Measurements](https://digitalgemology.com/learn/glossary/measurements): Measurements is the report line that gives a stone's size in millimeters. A round reads minimum – maximum diameter × depth, and a fancy shape length × width × depth.
