# Marquise cut

Also called marquise, navette

A marquise cut is an elongated brilliant pointed at both ends.

## In more detail

It is the most stretched common outline, with two points, so it is the hardest to cut without a bow-tie. GIA's marquise guide says that marquises typically show some bow-tie. But our Marquise and DG-Bowtie share a 2.06-to-1 outline and 87 facets, and only DG-Bowtie has a band. The points need protection in a setting, usually V-prongs.

## On a grading report

No GIA cut grade; measurements as length × width × depth.
