# Cutting order

Cutting order is the sequence in which a faceter cuts the tiers of a design. Each new tier is cut to meet the tiers before it.

## In more detail

The design gives the order, because a tier cut too early has nothing to meet. A typical round starts with the pavilion, then turns over for the crown.

## How we measure it

Our tier table lists every tier in cutting order.
