# Crown

Also called top, crown of a diamond

The crown is the part of a cut stone above the girdle. On a standard round brilliant it has 33 facets: the table, 8 stars, 8 bezels and 16 upper halves.

## In more detail

Light enters mostly through the crown and leaves through it again. On the way out, the sloped crown facets bend each color by a different amount. That spreads white light into fire.
