# Colored stone report

Also called colored stone identification report, gemstone report

A colored stone report is a lab document that identifies a gem and states any treatment the lab detects. GIA's identification report describes the color but does not grade it.

## In more detail

GIA's identification reports list the item's weight, measurements, shape, color and cutting style. Then they state what the material is, with laboratory-grown material labeled as such. Comments follow. Some colored stone reports also give a geographic origin.
